Civil Partnerships

The law now provides for civil partnerships offering same sex couples the same rights as married couples.

To dissolve a civil partnership in England & Wales you must prove that it has irretrievably broken down. This can be done by establishing one of the following 4 facts:

Your civil partner has behaved unreasonably and you cannot be expected to live with them.
You have lived apart for a continuous period of 2 years and you both consent.
Your civil partner has deserted you for 2 years or more.
You have lived apart for 5 years or more and your civil partner's consent is not required.
